Hello families!

Welcome to another season of the Brookstone Barracudas! The swim board and coaches are excited and ready to start on Monday, 5/22.

Coaches: We would like to welcome Head Coach Katie Kovalaske and Assistant Coach Griffin Payne this year as well as our returning junior coaches Lara West and June Brewer. Our junior coaches will be at all practices and meets helping our coaches with the 83 swimmers that we have this season. We will be running junior coach interviews for additional positions on Monday 5/22. If you have a swimmer that is interested, please complete this form: Junior Coach Interest Form and we will reach out to set up an interview.

Need for Stoke and Turn Judges: Our current group of Stroke and Turn judges have been in their position for many years and we’re looking to add some new faces to the group. If anyone is interested, you can sign up for training on one of these dates (5/23, 24, 31 or 6/1) here: Stroke and Turn Clinics. The sessions are free and they offer both in person and online options. Once you are trained, please reach out to Alexis Henry and she can add you to her list.

Updating our Equipment: Our lane lines are approximately 20 years old and need to be replaced along with our sound system. We will be looking into a variety of options including securing donations from our families and the surrounding community along with some other fundraising activities. Stay tuned for additional information!

New this year: We have opened up the meets for the entire season so you can log in and declare your attendance for all meets if you choose to do so.

If you haven't done so already, join our Facebook group Brookstone Barracudas Swim Team and follow our Instagram brookstonebarracudas. We will post to these sites frequently and they are best form of communication when we have to change or cancel practice due to weather.

• Team Suit: Every Barracuda swimmer (not Betas) will need a team suit found here . The team suit will be approximately $31 for the girls suit and $25 for the boys. If you would like to purchase a team suit, you can go to All American Swim in Cary (1231 NW Maynard Rd, by the Briggs) for a fitting and to place your order. Tell them that you are there to order for the Brookstone Barracudas Swim Team to get the team pricing. All swimmers must have a team suit by the first official meet on June 13th.
• Swim Meets: We will be having a mock meet on June 7th. A mock meet is an opportunity for our new swimmers to see what a swim meet is like and for our parents to learn about the different volunteer roles that they've signed up for this season. Brookstone Betas will not be swimming in meets this season, but you are always welcome to come and watch!
• Volunteers: This season you signed up for jobs instead of dates. Alexis Henry, our volunteer coordinator will be placing you in positions for each meet based on need and your declaration of attendance. Remember, we all need to be there to support our kids and we can't run swim meets without our volunteers!
• Practice Schedule: You can find the practice schedule below. Note the change to our Wednesday schedule for our Brookstone Beta team.
